BEDFORD, NH (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Police say that three suspicious deaths in Bedford appear to be the result of a murder-suicide. Police believe a mother shot and killed her two daughters before turning the gun on herself.
Police responded to the home at 17 McAfee Farm Road Saturday after receiving a 911 call reporting a dead female inside the home at 17 McAfee Farm Road. When officers arrived, they found two other bodies as well, Assistant Attorney General Jay McCormack said.
A crime scene was established at the home, with investigators closing off the entire road Saturday night. Crime scene investigators and police remained at the home Sunday. People continued to leave flowers outside the home on Monday.
The victims identities were released on Monday. Nina Obukhov, 34, is believed to have shot and killed 8-year-old Katherine Obukhov and 6-year-old Elizabeth Obukhov, both in the head.
Investigators still do not have a motive for the shooting, and it's unclear if that's something investigators will ever fully understand.
However, FOX25 obtained court documents that reveal the father, Alexey Obukhov, was arrested for allegedly assaulting Nina in a domestic violence incident in 2013.
The charges were later dropped though when Nina invoked her 5th Amendment right against self-incrimination.
The documents also reveal the Bedford, N.H. police chief even got involved trying to prevent the father from a obtaining a license to carry a concealed weapon. The state's highest court, however, overturned the denial of the father's application.
Alexey Obukhov also made news that same year because he owns a gun shop in Merrimack, N.H. where he hung pictures of Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin.
But investigators are not saying whether or not he played any role in this tragedy.
They will only say he is the person who called 911, but won't say whether he is being cooperative.
It's a situation that has parents in this quiet community dumbfounded and at a loss for how to explain it to their kids.
"I can't even fathom - not in a million years I can't even imagine anyone ever doing something like that," one Bedford parent said. "I can't imagine where she was mentally or what state she was in."
School officials said they would have increased counseling available to elementary school students and parents of students at the Riddle Brook Elementary School, a K-3 school.
