More than 20 taken to hospital after concert at Xfinity Center

MANSFIELD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Keith Urban concert held at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield Saturday night led to more than 40 people being attended to by emergency workers, and over 20 of those people being taken to the hospital.

Most of the people were transported for alcohol-related medical problems, according to fire and police officials in the town. In the span of roughly three hours, 46 people were evaluated for medical issues and 22 people were taken to the hospital by Mansfield's fire department and emergency medical services.

According to a statement from both Mansfield police and fire officials, the "Keith Urban concert was not anticipated to present with the volume of issues handled," but with the help of ambulances from five other towns nearby, they were able to keep the situation under control.

Approximately 18,000 people attended the country music singer's concert, according to Live Nation, the entertainment company in charge of the concert. In addition to people needed to be taken to the hospital for alcohol-related issues, more than 50 people were taken into protective custody due to intoxication, and a "number of others" were arrested for alcohol-related issues.
