CRANSTON, R.I. — A Fall River woman missing since last week has been found dead in Cranston.
Krystal Boswell, 29, was reported missing on April 1. Police were tipped off by an anonymous person on April 5 that James Lombardi had murdered her and buried the body in a vacant lot.
Investigators soon learned that Boswell had been last seen with a man who went by the name Jimmy on the morning of her disappearance.
Police obtained a search warrant to dig up an area at the vacant lot after learning that Lombardi had been seen working there on several occasions and was noticed by neighbors digging on April 2.
Crews working at the home discovered Boswell’s body early Friday morning several feet below ground and an autopsy determined her identity.
Police believe Boswell was beaten to death and choked.
Lombardi was arrested Friday morning and charged with first degree murder. He’s set to be arraigned on Monday.
"I would like to express our condolences to the family and friends of the victim, Ms. Boswell, for their tragic loss,” Cranston Mayor Allan Fung said.
