Woman failed 3 sobriety tests after crashing into Milford cruiser

MILFORD, Mass. — A 22-year-old Milford woman faces several charges stemming from an overnight crash that injured a police officer.

Emily Cicconi is accused of causing the crash around 2 a.m. in the area of West and Congress streets.

She was driving with a passenger in the car, but neither were injured, according to police.

Officer Steve Sousa was taken to a hospital to be treated for a concussion, as well as cuts and bruises. He's expected to fully recover.

A man who lives near the scene of the crash said he went running to help when he heard it happen.

“It sounded like two trains colliding,” Rob Wills said. “It was very loud. Honestly, it shook me. It scared me, honestly. I’m a big guy. I don’t get scared a lot.”

Police say she failed three sobriety tests, was given a breathalyzer, blew a .143 and was arrested. Police also found an open and full alcohol nips, an oxycodone pill and a large amount of illegal fireworks.

Cicconi now faces charges of OUI, OUI drugs, failure to stop/yield, operating a motor vehicle negligently as to endanger, possession of a Class B drug, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, possession of unlawful fireworks and storing fireworks improperly.

Prosecutors says Ciconni was arrested last year for OUI on her 21st birthday. She told police she tried to serve around a rock, and hit a guardrail. She's also charged in a third incident where police say she left the scene of a crash.
