BOSTON — Two men were arrested Tuesday evening for allegedly trespassing into the MBTA tunnels to take videos and photos.
Transit Police said an officer saw the two men running through the tunnel southbound from Chinatown toward Tufts Medical station. All subway operations in the area were put on hold around 5:10 p.m.
Officers began looking in the tunnels for the two men and found them about 50 feet from the southbound platform of Tufts Medical Center hiding in a "niche."
Transit Police said both Morgan Johnson, 19 of Quincy, and Peter Nakhili, 20 of Stoughton had cameras and told officers they wanted to take photos and videos of the tunnels.
"This dangerous criminal act not only delayed hundreds of MBTA commuters during rush hour it put our officers' lives in jeopardy. We will follow this case through completion and work with the Suffolk County DA's Office to ensure they are held accountable to the maximum allowed under the law," said Transit Police Superintendent Sullivan.
Both were arrested and charged with trespassing. Transit Police said both Nakhili and Johnson had previously posted videos on YouTube of trespassing into the tunnels.
