Medford firefighter credited with saving construction worker's life

MEDFORD, Mass. — A Medford Firefighter working a detail jumped into action to help save a construction worker’s life.

Firefighter Thomas Murray was working a detail at Tuft University's Carmichael Hall last Thursday when he was told a worker needed medical attention.

Murray helped pull the worker from the excavator he was operating. He then performed CPR to the unresponsive man and called for help.

“It is without question that the swift actions and quick, quality CPR performed by Firefighter Murray increased this patient’s chances of survivability,” read an excerpt from the incident report.

Chief Frank Giliberti, Jr. praised Murray for his quick response.

“His dedication to helping others makes him a true credit to the Medford Fire Department,” Chief Giliberti said.
