BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – An MBTA bus passenger was caught on camera throwing her drink at a driver after getting kicked off for fare evasion, but that’s not where the story ends.
The video, recorded by a passenger, shows the bus driver then stop the bus and chase the woman to the sidewalk and hitting her.
It started on a number 19 bus route at a stop on Warren Street in Roxbury.
The passenger involved said she was trying to get change to pay and by phone told us this about the driver.
“She was disrespectful, unprofessional and completely out of control and violent,” the passenger said.
In a statement, MBTA officials said: "While it’s very clear that the passenger was the instigator, it’s incumbent upon the bus operator to demonstrate restraint and allow police to handle such a matter."
Riders are also concerned about the violent confrontation.
“They stress so much about don't bother the bus driver but then you see the bus driver bother you,” one rider said.
The bus driver’s identity hasn’t been released, but MBTA officials said she has been suspended while they investigate.
