GRAFTON, Mass. - A fire completely engulfed a home in Grafton on Wednesday afternoon, displacing its residents.
The Westboro Fire Department responded to a call for a 4-alarm fire on Millbury Street at around 2 p.m.
Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported, and the family can thank a triple A driver who pulled everyone to safety.
The couple, who have lived in the home for 40 years and share their home with their children, were inside at the time and had no idea the house was on fire.
The triple A driver, Norman Daigle, happened to be driving by at the time and saw the flames coming from the residence.
“I was driving by and saw smoke coming out of the garage, [and] ended up getting the two people out and the cat,” said Daigle.
Grafton Fire said hunting ammunition and a propane tank made the fire more dangerous.
“We had a propane tank explode and come out in the front yard and then shot back towards the building," said Grafton Fire Chief Micky Gauthier.
Homeowner Debby Rixham heard about what happened through Facebook.
“I saw there was a fire on Millbury Street in Grafton and I had this sick feeling that it was mine and I called him and said tell me it’s not our house and he said it is," said Rixham.
Rixham's says she and her husband are both thankful everyone, including the cat, got out safely.
“We’re fine, we’re safe, we’re good, life goes on," said Rixham.
