SALISBURY, Mass. — If you're headed north along the Essex County coast Memorial Day weekend, The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is warning travelers about rough conditions along parts of Route 1A.
Beach Road in Salisbury (part of Route 1A) will be resurfaced beginning Sunday evening, May 20. Starting at 8 p.m., crews will be tearing up the road periodically to repave it into early June.
The work will be suspended over the holiday weekend, but the road will likely have rough patches that will slow traffic.
MassDOT is asking travelers to allow for extra time to take their trip slow along the road, where signs will remain over the weekend.
Related work on drainage structures will continue at times, with an expected completion date in "early June."
If you're driving that way, MassDOT asks you to reduce speed and use caution whenever driving through a work zone.
You can get more information on the MassDOT website or find traffic updates on Boston 25 News.
