A Canton gym holds fundraiser to help people with spinal cord injuries

CANTON, Mass. — Dan Cummings is the owner and founder of a unique exercise facility in Canton MA called Journey Forward.  But this facility is so much more than a gym. It is a personal mission for Cummings.

When Cummings was 19, he suffered a spinal cord injury after diving into a pond.

Chris Knight, who played Peter Brady on the tv show ‘The Brady Bunch’, spoke with Boston 25 News Thursday morning about a fundraiser to help Journey Forward continue bettering the lives of people with spinal cord injuries and other disabilities.

Knight got involved when he became friends with Cumming’s brother and was immediately struck by the work they were doing to change people’s lives.

“Our goal is to help them reach their goals through exercise,” said Cummings. “The ultimate goal is to walk again, but for some people, it may just be to live a more independent life. We believe our clients will get better. We truly do. When someone believes in you it feels really good. Our clients know we believe in them.”
