MARATHON, Fla. — A Melrose woman died after being pulled from the water off the Florida Keys Sunday evening, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Several witnesses told police they saw Katherine Boukharov, 25, face down and motionless in the water at Bahia Honda State Park just before 6 p.m. Sunday.
Boukharov was pulled to shore and bystanders began to perform CPR and called 911.
She was taken to Fishermen’s Hospital in Marathon, Florida, where she was pronounced dead.
Police said foul play is not believed to be a factor in the incident and autopsy results are pending.
The incident is under investigation.
