NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A man's body found near Weld Square when police responded to the sound of gunshots in the area early Sunday.
Police found the body at around 2 a.m., said the Bristol County District Attorney's assistant, Rob Bentlyewski, in a statement. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Bentlyewski did not say specifically how the man died, and did not release his identity.
The DA's office, local and state police are investigating and ask that if anyone witnessed suspicious behavior in the Weld Square area or has information about the incident is asked to call New Bedford Police Department at 508-991-6300, or call the department's anonymous tip line at 508-961-4584.
