Man who stopped school bus on Mass Pike has license suspended

The driver who stopped in the middle lane of the Mass Pike in Newton, forcing a school bus to stop, has had his license suspended, the Herald reports.

The Registry of Motor Vehicles reports Kevin Crowe, 42, of Dorchester had his license suspended after State Police requested he be banned from driving.

The bus, driven by Joe Rizoli, a Weston school bus driver, had a dashboard camera that caught the moment Crowe stopped the bus to scold Rizoli for having tinted windows and climbed on the hood of the bus.

Rizoli said the man asked him why the bus windows were tinted and if there were any students on board. There were none at the time. He then pointed to the dash cam hoping it would discourage Crowe from escalating the situation.

On their website, the RMV states they can suspend a license if the registrar determines the driver poses 'an immediate threat to public safety because (of) a medical condition.' They did not specify the medical condition.

On May 1, Crowe swerved in front of a Weston school bus, forcing it to stop in the middle lane of the westbound side of the Mass Pike in Newton.

Crowe is then seen getting out of his car and jumping on the hood of the bus before pointing his finger at the driver, allegedly concerned that he couldn't see the children in the bus due to the tinted windows.

“I was not doing anything you can be concerned about,” Crowe told the Boston Herald. “It was not road rage (but) just me being a concerned citizen.”

State Police said Crowe will receive a summons to report to Newton District Court on multiple driving-related charges.
