Man arrested for allegedly exposing himself to teenager in Walmart

QUINCY, Mass. — A man was arrested for allegedly exposing himself to a teenage girl in a Quincy Walmart Wednesday.

Police said around 8:20 p.m., a mother called police to report an exposer in the Walmart on Falls Boulevard.

The mother told police she and her daughters were in the toy section when a man exposed his genitals to her daughter.

While trying to alert store personnel about the incident, one of the young girls pointed to a man and identified him as the exposer, said police. At that moment, the mother took a short video of the man to document his description.

An officer spoke with personnel from Walmart Asset Protection, who located the suspect in the store via camera.

Surveillance video also showed the teenager turn toward the suspect in the toy section, as the man stood a few feet away with his shorts down.

When police went up to him in the store and arrested him, they asked if there was any possible reason that he would have been pulled down, he responded, "ya, I shaved myself last night and I've been real itchy down there, so that's probably what it was," according to the police report.

The man was identified as Abidan Rivera, 35, of Taunton. He was placed under arrest and charged with open and gross lewdness.

Police said is married and has a young child.

Police said he was arrested in Saugus in 2016 for a similar incident.

Rivera is scheduled to be arraigned in Quincy District Court Thursday morning.
