BOSTON — A man has been indicted on charges he targeted gay men to drug and rob, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

The DA told FOX25 Riccardo D’Orsainville, 50, of Boston, posed as a wealthy European as he targeted gay men.

He has been indicted on charges of poisoning, larceny over $250, and receiving stolen property.

D’Orsainville is accused of using the alias Robert Young when meeting up with at least three men who then took him to their homes for drinks. Police say D’Orsainville would drug them, causing them to pass out. When they awoke, “they realized thousands of dollars worth of their property was missing.”

Among the items stolen were a $1,500 suitcase, a $12,000 watch, and a $13,000 oil painting.

Police say D’Orsainville met at least one of the men on a gay dating website. The two men went out for drinks on Newbury Street and then back at the victim's house where D’Orsainville slipped something into his drink. When the man woke up the next morning he learned that many of his valuables had been taken.

Boston police reached out to members of the local LGBTQ community, warning them of their search for the man.

According to police, someone eventually recognized a description of the man as someone who had been convicted in federal court of defrauding the Boston Veterans Affairs Research Institute.

The recognition led Boston police to D’Orsainville’s home. There they found items police say were those taken from his victims.

D’Orsainville was then arrested and charged with larceny.
