Maine sheriff's cruiser collides with another car, hits sign

A Maine sheriff's cruiser collided with another driver and hit a sign while responding to an unrelated incident.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Department and Windham Police say the cruiser was traveling on Tandberg Trail when the accident occurred.

The other driver, 38-year-old Windham native Jenea Eide, was also driving on Tandberg Trail, and tried to make a left-hand turn into the Irving Little Mart's driveway.

The cruiser collided with Eide's car, and the sheriff's car then left the road, hit a vent pipe for underground gas storage tanks and hit the store's sign.

Eide was transported to Maine Medical Center for minor injuries, and the deputy involved was not injured.

The Little Mart stayed open after the crash, and their gas pumps were shut off.
