Macroburst moves across state, from Wellesley to Weymouth

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — A string of storms blew up in Framingham, and then continued from Wellesley to Hingham, damaging what was in it's path.

A macroburst was responsible for the string of damage in Wellesley, Dorchester, West Roxbury, Quincy, Hingham and Weymouth. A macroburst is similar to a microbrust, except it is larger in diameter.

Before hitting Wellesley, the storm started in Framingham, causing massive trees to topple like toys. One tree fell onto an apartment building's roof.

"I saw a couple little twigs start falling then literally half of the kitchen fell down... Basically almost on me," said Kurt Reinhard.

When the tree toppled, it took its entire root system with it, the crater being about 4 feet deep and 15 feet across.

A few blocks away, a large branch came down on one house, and a large tree on another.

"It's just upsetting for something like that to happen. I feel bad for anyone who has to go through this. But everyone is ok and that's all that matters," said Jess Dowdy.

A microburst hit northern towns of Plaistow and Haverhill. No injuries were reported from either the macroburst or microburst.
