BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – Rep. Stephen Lynch has officially announced he's running for Senate.
The Congressman posted a minute-long video on his new Facebook page Thursday morning announcing his bid for the democratic nomination for Sen. John Kerry's soon-to-be vacant seat in the U.S. Senate.
Lynch will begin Thursday with stops in Springfield and Worcester with an evening event at Iron Workers Local 7 in South Boston.
The Boston Democrat had been privately telling supporters of his plans to run but said as recently as last week that had not made a final decision.
In December, Rep. Ed Markey announced plans to run in the special election. Former Republican Senator Scott Brown is also reportedly weighing a run.
A Democratic primary has been scheduled for April 30 and a special election is expected for June.
