AMESBURY, Mass. — A man is currently hospitalized with serious injuries following an industrial accident in Amesbury, police said.

On Monday, at around 2 p.m., firefighters were called to E F Shea New England Concrete on 87 Haverhill Road for reports of a man injured during an industrial accident.

Rescue crews extricated the man from a walkway estimated to be anywhere from 15 to 20 feet high. Amesbury Fire Chief Kenneth Berkenbush said the extrication was a difficult one, where not only did they have to stable the man, but get him down to the ground.

The worker had to be taken to a Boston hospital via medical helicopter for treatment of life threatening injuries.

An investigation is already underway by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Neither the condition nor identity of the worker were released by officials.
