2 people shot in Peabody, police investigate 2 crime scenes

PEABODY, Mass. — Peabody police are investigating after two people were shot Thursday night.

“My wife woke me up and said, ‘there’s a double-shooting down the street,.’ Her and the kids were scared,” said Paul Wagar, who lives on Washington Street in Peabody. “I looked out the window and there were four or five cop cars, an ambulance, and they had a black Audi surrounded.”

Police said a 23-year-old man from Lynn was shot in the thigh and a 23-year-old woman from Peabody was shot in the wrist. Both wounds are not considered to be life-threatening.

Wagar said officers told him one of the victims was taken to the hospital from the shooting scene and the other was driving away in the Audi when police stopped the car in front of his house. No arrests have been made, police said, but officials are searching for a silver four-door Chevy Malibu. The license plate of that car is unknown currently.

“It was a crime scene,” Wagar said. “The street was blocked off, detectives everywhere.”

Boston 25 News cameras captured an Audi with a bullet hole in its driver’s side door at the intersection of Allens Lane and Washington Street. Police said that two vehicles were struck in the shooting, along with the two victims.

Our crew also spotted a Honda with its back windshield shattered on Veterans Memorial Drive.

Massachusetts State Police were assisting local police at the crime scenes. Peabody police and firefighters declined to comment on the crime scenes Friday morning.
