WESTPORT, Mass. — A pair of wayward horses took a leisurely stroll to the old town road Monday morning, causing quite the spectacle for morning commuters.
The horses got loose from their stable at a private residence before 8 a.m. and began trotting out onto Route 88 in Westport, according to Massachusetts State Police.
The horses’ owner had already found them by the time troopers arrived at the scene, but she needed help wrangling them.
Trooper Alex Boswell, who police say watches a lot of Western movies, was able to get a rope onto one of the horses. Eventually, both animals were wrangled and walked back home.
Traffic was stalled briefly while the horses were led off the highway.
