Video captures moment speeding car barrels into Revere apartment building, injuring two

REVERE, Mass. — At least two people were injured, and four residents were evacuated from their homes after a car went airborne and slammed into an apartment building in Revere early Wednesday morning, leaving a gaping hole in a brick wall.

Emergency crews responding to a report of a vehicle into a building in the area of 1129 North Shore Road just before 1 a.m. found a white Toyota Camry lodged in the side of a basement apartment.

Surveillance video sent to Boston 25 News captures the moment the car barrelled through an intersection, went airborne, and collided into the building.

Firefighters had to use the Jaws-of-Life to pull one of the victims out of the car. Another person in the car was also hospitalized. There was no immediate word on their condition.

Video from the scene showed a massive hole in the basement apartment as crews removed the car from the rubble.

The out-of-control driver also struck a pair of parked cars, leaving behind a trail of destruction.

Gas has been shut off to the damaged section of the building and inspection crews will be called in to assess the integrity of the structure.

Revere Deputy Fire Chief Glen Rich said a total of four people living in two impacted units were relocated to a hotel.

“They did compromise the building’s gas line, some water lines, and some heat lines,” Rich explained. “We were able to isolate to just that corner and we had to evacuate the tenants.”

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
