Transit Police search for MBTA bus shooting suspect

DORCHESTER — Transit Police are on the hunt for a man suspected of shooting a passenger on board an MBTA bus on Morton Street Monday morning.

The shooting took place on board the 21 Bus at 10:25AM Monday, according to Transit Police.

People on scene told me the shooter escaped the scene by running away on Lorna Road, before disappearing into backyards.

Transit Police were later seen in the backyard of a home on nearby West Selden Street.

That’s where investigators recovered evidence from a receptacle, including, I’m told a gun.

A homeowner on West Selden Street told me the suspect was recorded on home video surveillance wearing a heavy hooded jacket, jumping a backyard fence before disappearing underneath a backyard deck where a recycling bin is located.

Transit Police Monday night confirmed the shooter is still at large and that this is an open and active investigation.

The victim is expected to recover from his injuries.
