BOSTON — The 2022 FIFA World Cup Tournament kicks off Monday from Qatar and the United States will be in action.
The U.S. men’s national team will be playing in Group B alongside England, Iran and Wales. It gets the Welsh first in a game that kicks off Monday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m. They will follow that tilt up with a showdown against England on Black Friday and a game against Iran on Tuesday, Nov. 29.
Boston is not often thought of as a soccer town, but those who think that haven’t visited the bars and restaurants that Yelp has deemed the best places in the city to watch the World Cup.
These are the best spots in the area to enjoy all of the World Cup action, according to Yelp’s Reggie Williams:
- Caffe Paradiso -- 255 Hanover Street, Boston
- El Potro Mexican Bar & Grill -- 61 Union Square, Somerville
- Olde Magoun’s Saloon -- 518 Medford Street, Somerville
- Parlor Sports -- 1 Beacon Street, Somerville
- The Banshee -- 934 Dorchester Avenue, Boston
Now, it’s important to note that there is an eight-hour time difference between Boston and Qatar. The biggest games, including all three U.S. group games, kick off at 10 p.m. in Qatar, which translates to 2 p.m. ET.
All of the United States’ opening-round games will air on Boston 25 News and Fox Sports 1.
If the U.S. wins the group, they would play in a Round of 16 match on Sunday, Dec. 4
