The MBTA is reporting “significant delays” on the Fitchburg Commuter Rail line in both directions during Monday night’s commute.

In a series of tweets, the agency said several trains were experiencing crossing gate issues. Delays are running up to an hour for some trains.

The issues are impacting trains between North Station and Littleton/Route 495.

The MBTA said Train 421, which left North Station at 3:30 p.m., is 50-60 minutes behind schedule between Ayer and Wachusett. Train 423, which left North Station at 4:30 p.m., is delayed 30-40 minutes between Brandeis/Roberts and Wachusett.

Other trains were running anywhere from 15-25 minutes to 40-50 minutes behind schedule, according to the MBTA.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
