Searching for a sub? Boston eatery lands on list of best sandwich shops in America

BOSTON — If you’re searching for that super sub, look no further than this Boston restaurant.

Chacarero, located near Downtown Crossing, landed at #13 on farandwide.com’s list of the best sandwich shops in America.

The Chilean shop has served hungry Bostonians for nearly three decades.

Founder Juan Hurtado started selling his signature sandwich, a combination of green beans, grilled chicken or beef, avocado spread, sliced tomato, muenster cheese and hot sauce, from a pushcart. As word of the delicious dish spread, Chacarero was able to share a space with a Filene’s Basement before moving to their current location on Arch Street, according to their website.

Chacarero has become the unlikely king of Boston sandwiches,” writes farandwide.com

Another shop joins Chacarero as New England’s lone representatives on the list.

Portland, Maine’s Duckfat landed at #7 on farandaway.com’s list.

“It’s been a well-loved local favorite for over 15 years, and its fanbase continues to grow,” writes the site.
