PLAINVILLE, Mass. — The YMCA Family Pool Club in Plainville is destroyed after a heavy fire engulfed the building on Saturday evening, according to Fire Chief Richard Ball.

The Plainville Fire Department responded to the popular clubhouse on Berry Street around 5 p.m. The building was currently under renovation.

Multiple fire agencies from Massachusetts and Rhode Island responded and knocked down the heavy fire in just under two hours, officials said.

There were no injuries reported.

Fire officials said the clubhouse “is a popular swimming spot for local residents and families.”

“The pool club is a beloved community gathering spot for many families here in Plainville during the summertime,” Chief Ball said. “Thankfully no one was hurt, but it’s very unfortunate that the fire resulted in a total loss of the building.”

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
