Man charged with murder in Somerville stabbing will be held without bail

SOMERVILLE, Mass. — A 28-year-old man has been arrested for a fatal stabbing in Somerville late Thursday night.

Shakeel Bodden, 28, of Somerville, was arraigned Friday afternoon in Somerville District Court on a charge of murder in connection with the death of Jalel Brown-Cross, 33, of Boston. A not guilty plea was entered on his behalf. The defendant will be held without bail and undergo a competency evaluation at Bridgewater State Hospital.

The next court date, in this case, is December 22, 2021

Police were called to Munroe Street just after 10:30 p.m. Thursday for a reported stabbing. Police responded and found a 33-year-old Boston man suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Bodden allegedly attacked the victim with a knife inside the home. Bodden was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries sustained during the attack.
