New Bedford woman hit, killed by car in Dartmouth

DARTMOUTH, Mass. — Police are investigating a crash that took place in Dartmouth and resulted in the death of a New Bedford woman.

On Thursday around 9:55 p.m., Dartmouth Police and emergency personnel responded to the area of 597 State Road after receiving calls that a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found 56-year-old Wendy Tolley of New Bedford. Although emergency care was given, she died from her injuries.

Tolley was hit by a 2006 Toyota Prius operated by a 24-year-old Dartmouth woman.

Part of the road was closed for several hours as part of the ongoing investigation being conducted by Massachusetts State Police and units from Dartmouth Police.
