SOMERVILLE, Mass. — Police are again investigating after Tufts University on Tuesday morning received its fifth bomb threat in the past week, officials said.
In a statement, a Tufts University spokesperson said, “The university has received another threat that may be related to recent events...As we continue to assess the threats, please be assured that Tufts University Police are responding with our local partners to investigate each incident.”
The Tufts Daily reported the threat was received around 7:30 a.m. and that it warned of bombs in six campus buildings, in addition to police headquarters and an athletic field.

Despite the investigation, the Medford/Somerville campus remains open at this time, the spokesperson noted.
On Monday, several buildings on the campus were searched following the fourth reported threat in a six-day span.
Tufts University was disrupted on Dec. 14 and Dec. 15 for reported bomb threats. A third public safety threat on Dec. 16 was also reported.
Students have been told that they will continue to see an increased public safety presence on campus.
