Police identify victim of Franklin shooting as 26-year-old Attleboro man

FRANKLIN, Mass. — A 26-year-old Attleboro man died after he was shot in Franklin early Thursday morning, officials said.

Franklin police said in a news release that they were called for a person shot at 25 Elwood Road around 12:43 a.m. and found the man with gunshot wounds to the chest. He was transported to Milford Regional Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey identified the man at a Thursday morning news conference as Deandre Akeem Scott, of Attleboro. Morrissey said investigators do not believe the shooting was random but would not comment on any potential suspects.

Police say they found a blue Toyota connected to the apparent homicide. It was towed from Franklin, but no arrests have been made.

Police said Thursday evening they’re now confident the people involved, the victim and shooter, knew each other, though they are not ready to explain how.

Franklin police said the investigation is in its initial stages and detectives from the Norfolk County district attorney’s office are assisting them with interviewing witnesses, evidence collection and determining any suspects.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
