Police identify man killed in fatal single-vehicle crash in Hatfield

HATFIELD, Mass. — A 39-year-old Hatfield man has been identified following a fatal crash that occurred at the intersection of Pantry and Mountain Road in Hatfield early Saturday morning.

The Hatfield Police and Fire Department arrived at the scene of the crash at 1:30 a.m. following after a resident of a nearby home heard the crash and called 9-1-1 at 1:19 a.m.

Upon arrival, officials were able to identify Gregory J. Papageorge, who was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The Northwestern District Attorney’s office told Boston 25 that the cause of death and crash remains under investigation by the MA State Police assigned to the Northwestern D.A.’s office along with the State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Section.
