GEORGETOWN, Mass. — Georgetown Fire Department was dispatched to Interstate 95 on Tuesday night, February 4, for reports of a rollover crash.
It happened in the area of Tenney and Jewett Street.
Upon arrival, crews found a utility van on the side of the road, flipped over after it appeared to have struck a tree.
The passenger was able to safely exit the vehicle with no injuries, while the driver’s legs were pinned under the dashboard of the van.
Responding crews used battery-powered spreaders, cutters and rams to free the driver.
Once safely extricated, the driver was med flighted to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries.
Both sides of the interstate were shut down for roughly 2 hours before reopening.
