Newton bar charged after 16 minors found drinking alcohol

NEWTON, Mass. — A Newton restaurant is being charged after 16 minors were busted in possession of alcohol on Thursday night.

Union Street Restaurant is now in hot water after investigators with the Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission (ABCC) found the restaurant had supplied alcohol to people under the legal drinking age of 21.

The bar will be summoned for a hearing before the Commission. If they are found to have violated the law, the bar could risk suspension, modification or revocation of the bar’s liquor license.

“Massachusetts bars and restaurants need to take their responsibilities seriously,” said State Treasurer Deborah Goldberg. “We will continue to monitor and enforce the laws because we know this saves lives and prevents tragedies.”
