WALTHAM, Mass. — A Waltham food pantry and soup kitchen has finally found its new home after searching since the summer.
The Middlesex Human Service Agency (MHSA) announced on Tuesday its Bristol Lodge soup kitchen and weekly food pantry has relocated to Christ Church Episcopal at 750 Main Street in Waltham. The new location is about a mile from the old Moody Street location and is accessible by public transportation.
“We are happy to announce that these vital nutrition programs, which the Waltham community has relied on for so long, are able to continue without interruption,” said MHSA CEO Robert Mills.
Hours of operation for the soup kitchen will continue to be Monday through Friday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Hours for the food pantry will continue to be Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon. Both services are open to anyone in need.
Back in September, Mills told Boston 25 News he needed to find a new location for the facility because the building’s owners were renovating the space. After running the food pantry and soup kitchen out of Moody Street for over 18 years, he was given a deadline of October 15 to move. Mills’ biggest worry at the time was having to pause services.
With the help of the community, the MHSA is now back in business.
“Thank you to everyone who answered our call for help and offered assistance; we are so grateful,” Mills said. “We thank Christ Church Episcopal, in particular, for their willingness to make room for our operations and look forward to a long and successful partnership. We couldn’t have asked for a better space.”
MHSA has operated a soup kitchen and food pantry in downtown Waltham since the 1970s. They provide an average of 40 take-out meals a day and serve approximately 80-100 individuals and families each week.
