BOSTON — A native of the Merrimack Valley recently won a $1 million prize on the Massachusetts Lottery’s $50 instant ticket game.
Marta Soto Burgos, of Lawrence, chose the cash option on her “Billion Dollar Extravaganza” prize and received a one-time payment of $650,000, Lottery officials said.
Burgos, who was joined by her husband Aladino when claiming her prize at Mass Lottery headquarters in Dorchester, puchased her winning ticket at Stop Quick Market in Methuen. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
Billion Dollar Extravaganza offers over $1 billion in total winnings and features the largest instant win prize in the history of the Massachusetts Lottery -- $25 million. In total, there are three $25 million prizes, five $2 million prizes, and 15 $1 million prizes.
With an overall prize payout of 82 percent, Billion Dollar Extravaganza has the highest payout percentage of any game ever offered in the state with winning odds of 1 in 4.10.
