CLEVELAND — Mac Jones is once again inactive for Sunday’s game, leaving it up to rookie Bailey Zappe to make his second straight start and possible win for the New England Patriots.
Although Mac Jones flew out with the team to Cleveland, the sophomore QB is not sufficiently healed from the severe high ankle sprain he sustained during the Patriots Week 3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
Fourth-round rookie Bailey Zappe has performed well in his place, finishing Week 4′s game in relief of Brian Hoyer and completing his first NFL start with a passer rating north of 100. Veteran journeyman Garrett Gilbert will back up Zappe.
Also inactive for New England is running back Damien Harris, who had to leave last Sunday’s win over the Lions with a hamstring injury. Wide receiver Nelson Agholor and cornerback Jonathan Jones did not make the trip with New England due to injuries.

The Browns will have absences of their own to deal with. Key defensive contributors defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and cornerback Denzel Ward were ruled out for Sunday’s game earlier this week.
Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
