Local Dunkin’ restaurant thrust into spotlight after first-ever Super Bowl commercial goes viral

MEDFORD, Mass. — A local Dunkin’ restaurant was thrust into the national spotlight Sunday when a new commercial featuring Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez aired during Super Bowl LVII.

In its first-ever commercial to air on a Super Bowl Sunday, the Canton-based coffee chain decked out Ben Affleck in a Dunkin’ hat, shirt, and headset, and had him take orders from the drive-thru window in Medford.

A pair of firefighters who met Affleck during a commercial shoot last month said the Boston-area native was a joy to talk with.

“He was very nice. He brought us coffee and some doughnuts, so that was good,” Medford firefighter Bob Turner said.

Bob Noyes said of the commercial, “It was good, it was funny. Especially because you notice everything like the scenery next door. We knew which Dunks it was.”

In the now-viral advertisement, Affleck could be heard dishing out funny one-liners in a Boston accent as customers approached the window to get their orders.

Some of Affleck’s lines included, “One second, I’m trying to find the bagels,” and “Do I look familiar?”

At the end of the commercial, Jennifer Lopez pulls up to the window and discovers Ben has been sneaking off to work the drive-thru. She then says, “Grab me a glazed.”

Dunkin’ has since taken to social media to share some outtakes from the commercial.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
