LEGO Group moving North American headquarters to 100,000-square-foot office space in Boston

BOSTON — The LEGO Group on Monday announced plans to move its North American headquarters to a 100,000-square-foot office space in downtown Boston.

When the company relocates in 2025, its new office at 1001 Boylston Street will support the business’ long-term growth ambitions and mission to continue to inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow, according to LEGO Group in the Americas President Skip Kodak.

“1001 Boylston Street represents an investment in our future and a commitment to our employees,” Kodak said in a news release. “We believe that a modern, collaborative work environment will help creativity and innovation thrive, and we’re excited to see what we can accomplish in this new space.”

The decision to relocate to Boston comes months after LEGO Group initially announced that it would be moving its top American office out of Enfield, Connecticut, where operations have been centered since 1975.

According to Kodak, the location was strategically chosen to draw upon the region’s diverse talent pool and foster strong relationships with other innovative companies in the area.

“This move aligns with our long-term growth strategy and underscores our commitment to remaining at the forefront of innovation. Boston is one of the United States’ most livable cities, with world-class arts and leisure activities, education and research partners, and a thriving business community,” Kodak said. “Our move to 1001 Boylston Street ensures that we can continue our mission to bring LEGO play to even more children in the US and the Americas region.”

Spread over five floors and more than 100,000 square feet, the new office space in the Back Bay will feature a sky terrace on every floor, an onsite fitness center, onsite parking and bike storage, a well-being room, and a parent room.

Kodak said LEGO is aiming to move into the new space by the second quarter of 2025.

The LEGO Group employs more than 3,000 people in America, including 740 full-time workers in Enfield.

Workers based in Enfield will have a position in the new location and will receive relocation assistance if they wish to make the move. Workers who choose not to relocate will receive financial support and job placement assistance to transition to new opportunities outside the company.
