SALEM, Mass. — A Lawrence man was arraigned in court for drug trafficking and firearm violations after being arrested back in October 2024.

Kelvin Alvarez-Pimentel, 36, was arraigned in court on Wednesday after pleading not guilty to drug trafficking and firearm violation charges, including:

  • Trafficking in more than 36 grams of fentanyl
  • Two counts of trafficking in cocaine (more than 18 grams in powdered form and more than 36 grams in crack form)
  • Possession of a firearm without a firearm identification card.

This comes after Alvarez-Pimentel was arrested at his Lawrence residence on Halloween day, 2024.

Members of the Methuen Police Street Crimes Unit, and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, executed an arrest warrant on Alvarez-Pimentel following a lengthy investigation.

While searching the premises, officers reported finding bags of fentanyl, cocaine, and other drug paraphernalia. Additionally, officers found a nine-millimeter handgun, 50 rounds of ammo, and more than $15,000 in cash.

Alvarez-Pimentel was initially indicted in December 2024 and is expected back in court for a bail hearing on March 18.
