EVERETT, Mass. — A large fire at a scrap metal yard in Everett is under control.
Boston 25 News viewers sent pictures and videos of the huge plume of smoke seen for miles Wednesday morning.
Everett firefighters say the smoke was coming from the Schnitzer Steel scrap yard on Rover Street.
The company released a statement Wednesday:
“This morning a fire occurred at the Schnitzer recycling facility. The Everett Fire Department swiftly arrived on the scene in response. We have no reported injuries from the incident. We are working closely with the Fire Department to bring this situation to a safe conclusion.”
The fire was deemed under control around 10:30 a.m. No one was injured.
