Hundreds flock to esplanade for annual March for Babies

Hundreds of people gathered at the Hatch Shell on the Esplanade for the annual March for Babies to support the March of Dimes.

“March for Babies is our largest fundraiser as an organization, and throughout the whole spring and summer there are walks taking place all across the country, including this weekend in Boston,” said Chloe Schwartz, the Director of Maternal and Infant Health for the Massachusetts market of March of Dimes.

“It is our opportunity to bring together our local communities, regardless of what their outcome was with their experience and their journey to parenthood, we all get to come together.”

March of Dimes is the leader in the fight for the health of all moms and babies.

The annual March for Babies 1.2-mile walk is the largest fundraiser for the March of Dimes and is the oldest charitable walk in the nation. “My two nieces were born prematurely,” said Sarah Neil, who participated in Saturday’s walk.

“They were born at South Shore Hospital, and just seeing the incredible work and the level of care they received, why wouldn’t we support such an amazing cause and other families who went through something similar?”

The annual walk not only provides families a chance to support and honor one another, it also helps raise critical funds for research, programs, education, and advocacy.
