HOLYOKE, — The Holyoke Police Department is mourning the loss of K9 Jori.
Jori served the community for nine years, alongside his best friend and handler, officer Ryan Tabb.
They say he joined the force in 2013 and was a key asset to the city, tracking down missing and wanted persons and finding drugs and guns.
While not at work, jori enjoyed playing ball.
The department says he will be sorely missed.
“Most will never understand the bond between a K9 and his handler, as it extends beyond work and defines each of their purposes in life. Jori was so much more than a “working dog.” He was a respected member of the Police Department and faithfully served his community in times of danger and uncertainty without hesitation. Jori, you were one of a kind and a once-in-a-lifetime K9 partner,” the department wrote on Facebook.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
