GROVELAND, Mass. — The Groveland Fire Department responded to a house fire on Saturday afternoon that displaced the residents.

Fire crews were dispatched around 12:15 p.m. to 8 View Hill Road, a group home for individuals with disabilities.

When crews arrived, they saw smoke billowing out of the first-story home from the basement. All residents had evacuated the building before fire crews arrived. Firefighters were able to extend a hose down to the cellar and extinguish the fire at 1:10 p.m.

No injuries were reported, three of the residents did require medical attention for smoke inhalation but did not require hospitalization.

All residents were displaced, but arrangements have been made for them to stay elsewhere.

“I would like to commend our firefighters who arrived on the scene quickly and were able to contain the fire to the basement and save the home,” Groveland Fire Chief Robert Valentine said. “We thank our mutual aid partners for their assistance.”

Mutual aid was provided by the West Newbury and Georgetown Fire Departments at the scene, while Newburyport and Newbury covered stations in town. Trinity EMS also provided medical aid on the scene as well.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
