BOSTON — Four Massachusetts natives were taken on Day 2 of the MLB Draft.

Dominic Keegan, of Methuen, was drafted in the fourth round by the Tampa Bay Rays; Cam Schlitter, of Walpole, was selected in the seventh round by the New York Yankees; Sean Harney, of Natick, was taken in the eighth round by the Rays; and Jack Choate, of North Grafton, was drafted in the ninth round by the San Francisco Giants, according to Matt Feld, a Boston Herald freelancer.

Luke Gold, a Ballston Spa, N.Y. native who plays for Boston College, was also drafted.

Keegan, first baseman for Vanderbilt, was drafted in the 19th round last year by the Yankees but opted to play another year for the Commodores. He led the team in batting average (.371), games played and started (62), home runs (14), RBIs (67) and tied for the most hits (85), according to the Vanderbilt Hustler.

Schlittler, a pitcher for Northeastern University, finished the 2022 season 5-8 with a 3.53 ERA in 15 starts. He led the team in innings pitched at 91.2.

True to his Bay State roots, he couldn’t let the announcement pass him by without mentioning the Yankees-Sox rivalry.

Harney, a University of Kentucky pitcher, went 5-4 last season with a 2.62 ERA. He pitched 65 innings in 16 games and recorded two saves.

Choate, a pitcher for Assumption College, went 6-2 last season with a 2.43 ERA in 70.1 innings pitched.

Gold, second baseman for the BC Eagles, finished the season with a .308 batting average and tied for the team high in hits at 62. He had nine home runs, 38 runs scored and 37 RBIs.
