Fire crews respond to boat fire in Somerville

SOMERVILLE — A roaring fire left a boat at a Somerville yacht club charred and underwater Wednesday evening.

The fire broke out at the Winter Hill Yacht Club near Assembly Row, according to Somerville Firefighters Local 76.

The engulfed was a cabin cruiser.

Fire crews said the fire was contained to the single vessel due to responding crews’ aggressive attack.

Roaring flames could be seen from the Orange Line railway above the water.

Much of the blackened and charred boat was underwater after firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
