BRIDGEWATER, Mass — A Bridgewater woman has been arrested in connection with an alleged hit-and-run crash that left a man using a wheelchair hospitalized Tuesday, authorities announced.

Bonnie Bowes, 61, is facing charges of leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury, OUI-drugs causing serious bodily injury, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of property damage and marked lanes violation after allegedly striking a 75-year-old Bridgewater man Tuesday morning.

Bridgewater police responded to 241 Main Street at 9:43 a.m. to find the victim lying in the grass next to his damaged wheelchair. An initial investigation revealed that a maroon vehicle allegedly struck the man while traveling toward West Bridgewater.

West Bridgewater police found a vehicle that had damage consistent with the crash, stopping Bowes at the North Main Street and Matfield Street intersection before bringing her into the police station. She will be arraigned in Brockton District Court at a later date.

The victim in the crash was transported to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Bridgewater Police Department. Anyone with information or camera footage near the incident is encouraged to contact police at 508-697-6118.
