BPD officer arrested following domestic violence incident

BOSTON — Boston 25 News is working to learn more about a Boston police officer arrested following an alleged domestic violence incident.

The Boston Police Department told Boston 25 News Tuesday the officer, identified as Alexis Herrera-Brea, was arrested following a “domestic violence incident involving a non-intimate family member.” He has also been placed on administrative leave by the department in addition to the arrest.

Around 10 a.m. Wednesday, we received court paperwork and word from the clerk that the case was dismissed before the arraignment.

Boston police told us they were not aware that the charges were dropped.

We’ve reached out to the DA’s office for clarification.

According to court paperwork, a verbal argument happened between Herrera-Brea and his half-brother while he was off duty.

The victim was allegedly struck twice in the neck and thrown on the ground.

He was evaluated by EMS but didn’t want to share what happened until two days later. That’s when Boston police arrested one of their own and charged him with assault and battery.

“This alleged behavior is completely unacceptable for any member of the Boston Police Department and will be fully investigated,” said Superintendant-in-Chief Gregory Long. “The Boston Police Department will continue to ensure our integrity and credibility by taking all alleged domestic violence matters involving department employees seriously.”
