Police arrest 18-year-old suspect in connection to shooting that killed teenage girl in Dorchester

BOSTON — Boston Police officers have arrested a man in connection to the shooting death of a teenage girl in Dorchester on Wednesday.

According to authorities, a call came in around 3:40 p.m. for reports of a person shot in the area of Topliff and Speedwell streets.

At the scene, officers found the girl suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Her injuries were so extensive she was declared dead at the scene.

In a press conference, BPD Commissioner William Gross said officers had a person of interest in custody and a firearm was recovered from the scene.

Hours later, the department announced they had arrested 18-year-old Anthony Kelley, of Dorchester, and charged him with murder, firearm discharged within 500 feet of a dwelling, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

At his arraignment on Thursday, Kelley plead not guilty and has been held without bail. His next court date is set for May 15th.
