Boston city councilor and child involved in Jamaica Plain crash

JAMAICA PLAIN — A Boston city councilor and her child were involved in a crash on Centre Street in Jamaica Plain, Friday afternoon.

“This afternoon Councilor [Kendra] Lara and her son Zaire were in a car accident near the Monument in Jamaica Plain,” according to a statement issued by the councilor’s office, late Friday night.

Boston Police confirm they responded to a call for a crash into a house in the area of 803 Centre St. around 4:30 p.m., police went on to say that inspectional services were called in to evaluate the damage. A Boston 25 News photographer gathered video that showed a fence in the front yard knocked down.

Police did not have any information on any injuries that may have been caused by the crash, but the statement issued by Councilor Lara’s office went on to state that her son was taken to Boston Children’s Hospital and received “several stitches.”

“It was a scary situation for everyone involved but thankfully Councilor Lara and Zaire are expected to make a full recovery,” the statement continues.

At the time Boston 25 News reached out to Boston Police, the accident report was still being worked on, they did not issue any further details about the crash.
